We’re loving Taylor Swift these days. If you spend as much time online as we do, chances are you’ve checked out her Tumblr, and have likely fallen in love with her as well.

At a glance, Taylor is, despite her good looks and unfathomable success, funny and approachable. Take a step back, and you’ll realize that this impression of Taylor is exactly the perception that she and her team want you to have. Her entire brand, especially on social media, is molded on one principle: authenticity. All brands want it, few achieve it, and Taylor has mastered it.

Last week, Digiday published The Taylor Swift guide to social media marketing. This handbook to the social universe (essentially) outlines the many ways that Taylor displays her “unparalleled social media savvy.” She focuses on her fans instead of herself (/her brand). She speaks the nuanced language of each of her social media platforms because, as we all know, audiences vary across channels. But, most importantly, Taylor has #catitude. As Digiday puts it, “there’s no denying the viral power of a good cat post.”

Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, but when it comes to Taylor’s masterful conquering of the social-sphere, we can’t help but love.
