Do: consider the variety of video content available, and strategically select which form works best for your brand.
Each video medium can strongly serve a different purpose and may resonate the best with your target audience. Offering a service? Create video testimonials of past customers. Looking to educate? White-board tutorials may be the way to go. Want to showcase your event space? Feature your amenities in use with some fun background music.
Don’t: compromise quality just to have video.
While video content is getting easier and easier to create, it’s important to remember that the quality is still a reflection of your brand. While user-generated-looking video content may work in the social media realm, it won’t look as good on your website or blog. Bring in the video production companies for big projects, or look to an agency like FSC for a variety of video marketing strategies.
Do: maximize distribution of your video content.
There are a variety of ways to share your video once you have made it, so don’t miss out! Edit down shorter clips to use on your social channels like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Publish the longer forms on your website or blogs. Video content is a great SEO tool.
Don’t: keep it too long.
As mentioned earlier, different distribution channels call for different optimal video length, but at the end of the day, remember that shorter is generally better. TheNextWeb does an excellent job breaking down optimal video length for each video type here.
Do: comply with copyright.
There are several ways you can breach copyright when sharing video content, so take a look through YouTube’s Copyright Center before publishing.
Don’t: become viral obsessed.
While it’s certainly can be cool for a video to go viral, it’s not normally the goal with video here at FSC. If your viewers don’t include your target audience, it doesn’t matter how many people are watching your video.
