Social Media Marketing has evolved over the years and has become a large part in companies’ and businesses’ approaches to building brand awareness and advertising. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram make it easy to get a message across to its audience organically and through paid efforts. However, these channels can sometimes struggle with making their content directly result in website visits, purchases, or whatever service the business or company provides. This is where the emergence of Pinterest Marketing evolved. Pinterest has become a powerful marketing tool that through engagement, SEO, and analytics can greatly enhance your brand awareness and marketing efforts.

1. Engage and Interact

Pinterest gives you the opportunity to interact with a large audience specific to your brand and business. Great ways to interact include engaging with influencers who are involved with your target audience. You can do this by re-pinning their content and posting comments on their pins to get your page and brand in front of the influencers’ large audience. In addition to engaging with influencers, you should like, comment, and re-pin other users’ content that is in line with your brand so you can be a consistent part of the content and conversation.

2. Keywords, SEO, and Keeping up with Trends

First off, you need to make sure your Pinboards are visible to search engines. To do this, you simply go to Account Settings – Search Privacy – and choose “no” to “keep search engines from showing your Pinterest profile in search results.”

Your next step is to include SEO-rich keywords related to your business in your “About” section, Pinboard titles, and messaging for your individual pins. You can determine the most popular keywords that suit your page and brand by using Google Adwords Keyword Planner. An excellent way to take advantage of keywords to enhance your SEO is to create boards around current events and holidays. The New York Times does a great job of this by using keywords around Christmas and the holidays.

“Christmas”, “Desserts”, “Holiday”, and “Gift” are all highly searched words that in turn drive people to their Pinterest page and subsequently their website.

 3. Business Page

Last year, Pinterest added the option to convert your Pinterest page to a business page. This provides in-depth analytics that allow you to determine what content performs well for you, who comprises your main audience, how many page visits you received per day, and much more. Converting to a business page does not appear any differently to your users and allows you to enhance your content based off of the analytical feedback.
