Social media giants have seen a recent change in teen activity online. They’ve stopped using Facebook to connect with their friends. Instead, they’ve migrated to the comments section of “Slow-Moving Deer Video” on YouTube. What’s the reason for the change in activity? Are teens looking for the next big thing in social media, and Facebook just isn’t cutting it anymore? The team at FSC has our take on the subject.
FSC’s Take: Teens Migrating To YouTube Video Comments To Connect

Tiffany: +1 Deer

Andy: I say good riddance to those teens heading over to the deer video – who needs them anyway?! Never mind that they’re the future generation and we should foster their brand loyalty now, we can catch them later. And, personally, I can’t blame them. Have y’all SEEN that deer video? I don’t blame them for leaving.

Annie: At FSC, it’s our job to stay ahead of trends like this. With the new TripAdvisor/Deer Video partnership launching mid-April, we’re excited to make room reservations available through Deer Video for Hotel Monteleone by the end of the month!

Kate: I work in a social media and online marketing company, how is this the first time I’m hearing of this after 30 million active users have already utilized the video? This just proves the amazing impact that teens have on where people are interacting online. “Hey guys, deer me later.”

Mignon: As fascinating as this trend is, one major thing is left out. Where are the does? Why does it have to be a male deer? I hope going forward we will see equal representation of female deer so female millennials realize they are equal members of society.

Valerie: I had heard about this trend from my high-school aged sister-in-law. I was actually really pumped to join the party, because Facebook is so clearly OVER (#amiright?). Unfortunately, it turns out I was posting my puppy videos and feminism articles under the WRONG deer video. Needless to say, I had a big realization when I found out — I’m getting old. #fail

Matt: With 2 young children, I’m always worried about keeping the latest social media trends in my crosshairs to make sure I can monitor their activities. But now with this new video, it has become increasingly difficult to track this deer in the forest of comments. It’s no wonder why the kids are frolicking over to this new video. As parents, we must come to the realization that Facebook has become STAGnant and that this new trend is leading our children to a feeding trough of danger.

Margaux: Not a great sign for Facebook, but you have to appreciate the creativity of teens these days! A word of warning to those super hip youngsters: look out for those deer enthusiasts! Can’t let them crash the party.

Tiffany: I am also disappointed that this does not cover the ancient mystery…what does the deer say.
Mallory: Honey badger ain’t got time for this.
This has been FSC’s Funion Take. April Fools!
